Metro commuters in Bengaluru may have to wait for some more time to get the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) launched by the Centre.

NCMC is a Debit/Prepaid/Credit card which enables the user to travel, toll charges, withdraw money across the country and pay for retail purchases.

In the IT capital, BMRCL (Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited) has tied up with RBL Bank to issue cards.

NCMC can be used at metro stations in other cities like Delhi and Mumbai, unlike the normal Namma Metro smart card.

BMRCL Managing Director Anjum Parvez said: that still "BMRCL is conducting trials, which are in beta stage.

NCMC will be presented only after a month. However, the effectiveness of NCMC can only be experienced.

When metro stations in other cities, and agencies like BMTC, cab aggregator apps make it compatible. “We have done retrofitting of old gates to existing metro stations.

Parvez said that Automated Fare Collection (AFC) gates at Metro stations on existing routes have already been retrofitted to make them NCMC friendly.

NCMC's review Center for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), a research and development organization at BMRCL, has completed further testing.
